Meet Our New Advisor!

Oct 9th, 2018

This year we have gotten a new advisor to help oversee all that is going on at SnS. A familiar face if you have ever made your way into Fontana Sports on Henry St. and State St. Meet Adam Remus, our new advisor and mentor to help guide us through this 2018-2019 school year.

“My name is Adam Remus and I'm originally from La Crosse, Wisconsin where I grew up running around the surrounding bluffs of the Coulee Region. I studied Wildlife Ecology and Conservation Biology at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. While there I met my lovely wife Kate, and we have been married 7 years and have beautiful 1 1/2 year old daughter. After college I traveled around doing field work. I tried to get out climbing and snowboarding whenever possible.

I've been an avid snowboarder for most of my life. I started as a skateboarder, and later inherited my older brothers Burton Elite when he broke an arm and went back to skiing. I grew up shredding the slopes, or Mt. La Crosse. As I got older, I traveled the country in search of powder and adventure wherever I could find it.

Some of my favorite SnS experiences are teaching my wife how to snowboard while living in Colorado, getting a 22 inch storm at Mt. Baker the day after the Packers won the Super bowl, split-boarding on Teton Pass Wyoming after a 15 inch storm, and exploring the backcountry potential around the UP of Michigan. I'm also an avid classic XC skier, and hit the trails whenever conditions are good.

I am new to the SnS club, but have worked the annual resale [December 1 & 2] as a vendor for the last 10 years, so I have lots of experience helping with that event. My biggest goal as the club advisor is to get to know the members and foster an atmosphere of inclusion. I want to build relationships through skiing and snowboarding. I want to help the club grow and make a lasting impression on people and the university. Why do we all ski or snowboard? Because we love it, and we want to share those experiences with others. I'd like all SnS members to know that my office is always open and they can come to me for anything at anytime. I look forward to working with everyone and making this year one of the best for Hoofer SnS!”

Clearly Adam has experience we can all dream of getting one day! His knowledge and expertise will help launch Hoofers SnS into an even more developed and established organization going forward. Adam is a great resource for any SnS questions or concerns, so definitely reach out to him next time you see him around.
